About Us

Hi, I’m Alissa, the creator behind Brighten & Bless.

I am a Latter-day Saint mom, a self-taught graphic designer, and someone who has loved serving as a Primary music leader several times over the past twenty-five years. Teaching children the gospel through music has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

While I was at home raising my children, I began teaching myself graphic design. What started as a personal interest grew into a skill I deeply enjoyed. I found so much joy in creating materials that were both beautiful and functional, especially when they supported teaching and learning. Over time, my love for Primary music and my love for design naturally blended, and Brighten & Bless was born.

The name Brighten & Bless reflects the purpose behind everything I create. Brighten represents enlightening the minds of children and pointing them to the light of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Bless reflects my hope to support and uplift the dedicated Primary music leaders who give so much of their time and love, as well as the children who benefit from meaningful, gospel-centered learning experiences.

For the past two years, I have been studying and using the Teach a Child a Song methods taught by Sharla Dance. These methods have shaped the way I approach both teaching and design. They help children stay engaged, remember the songs, understand core doctrines, and develop their own testimonies of Jesus Christ. Each activity in this shop is thoughtfully created to coordinate with these methods so you can teach with clarity, purpose, and confidence.

My goal is to help save you precious time and offer resources that make your planning simpler and your preparation more intentional. At Brighten & Bless, everything I create is guided by a simple principle: joyful teaching simplified. Each product is thoughtfully crafted to support you in your calling and to help the children you teach feel the Spirit, grow in understanding, and develop a love for the songs of the gospel.

I am grateful you are here. Thank you for allowing me to support you in the sacred work you do.
